Sweet Gypsy

Among some of the most talented people we’ve ever met is a woman named Samorn. She is smart, business savvy and as her nickname states, sweet! We began working with her over 15 years ago. She designs and makes some of the most beautiful, trendy and fun jewelry we have ever seen. Her heart is amazing too, as she reinvests part of her sale proceeds back into the communities that she’s a part of, or supports through her business. Food kits are taken to local hill tribe villages and she even supports an orphanage on a regular basis.

From L to R: Caroline,Samorn, Champu, Kathy, Kim and Christina 2023..

Over the years our relationship has really grown with her and she’s also growing in her faith. It’s not always easy but she’s giving her son a good spiritual foundation and sending him to Christian school. Life as a single mom isn’t always easy but she does a great job being a business woman and mom. She employs people in her hometown village as well, including “Aunties” who make some of the handicrafts in her shop. During the pandemic she had to move her business 3 times and sell her home. But she is resourceful and hard working, so she was able to pivot and start making items for local Thai people too such as masks, handbags, sandals, clothing and even stuffed animals. Adding these handicrafts to her shop enabled her to employ and empower others in her community that also needed help and employment. When we come to visit her, she also takes us around and such. She has introduced us to the hill tribe villagers who make silver jewelry findings and pieces - an indigenous handicraft!

Samorn has one son and is a true gem. Please continue to pray she has good sales and is encouraged every day. You can purchase some of her handicrafts here.

hill tribe silversmiths & Weavers

Many of our Thai Silver pieces start here in the remote hill tribe villages. Using wooden stumps, metal stampers, and a few hand tools, they are able to make some of the most beautiful hand crafted jewelry in the world! These men and women do everything from the little connecting jump rings to the clasps. EVERY part of a Thai silver piece is crafted by hand. We were fortunate to be able to visit one of the villages that Sweet Gypsy partners with to get some of her charms, findings and jewelry to design her amazing pieces. She also outsources work to them so they can have a sustainable livelihood. When we visited, she took them a sizable food kit for the workers and family and even some treats for the kids.

We were gifted with some small handbags by the people. Caroline asked one of them how they made it and she pulled out a backstrap loom and showed us how they make these bags as well as their clothing. Their eye for design and color yet keeping with their tribal traditions was amazing!

The clothing we saw was so incredible we purchased it for display in the store and at events.

Mr. Win

Mr. Win is a creative and talented man we originally met in the night market. Through partnering with heavenly treasures, Mr. Winn has a changed life! He has been able to employ over 40 people in two villages in the hilltribes! He started selling in the night markets by himself and he also invented the 7 way and 3 way necklaces.  Now, his whole family are involved as well as he was able to train over 40 people in two villages how to make handicrafts, including the elderly who can sit and tie knots for the fashion accessories!!

He and his wife have been able to send their son to college through his handicrafts business. His most recent best sellers are the leather bracelets and semi precious stone bracelets.

We were able to pray with him and encourage him as he is also trying to revamp his business after the pandemic was really rough for their family. But! Now he has hope as people like us begin to help support him through purchasing his handcrafted goods.

In addition to Mr. Win and Sweet Gypsy, Heavenly Treasures helps approximately 100 artisan families find self sufficiency and hope.

We are able to purchase products from a variety of artisans in Thailand. The Thai people are so talented in design, and their creativity comes out in the form of unique and some one of a kind handbags and accessories.

Rangmai

Chirada is an amazing designer, seamstress and business woman! She owns a small business called “Rangmai Crafts and Creations”. Her handbags and accessories are of the highest handmade quality you will find. She resources vintage/antique clothing or fabrics and pairs them with hand tooled leather she sews on her own. Each item is crafted with care. Due to the up cycling of the fabrics, most of her items are unique or even one of a kind. Each bag has many pockets, or has some cool quality to make the item so practical, yet fashion forward and special. She even hand dyes the leather!

She employs several women to work in her shop. Some are in charge of sales in the store, while one is responsible for social media and marketing, another answers all the emails and processes the orders.

We have been blessed to know Chirada for over 15 years now! Her bags are among the best selling and most beloved in our shop.

MALEE HANDICRAFTS

A woman named Malee started her sewing business in her home with a micro loan from World Vision. Through her amazing mind and talented skills in sewing she has been building up her business and community at the same time.  They take scrap pieces of materials as well as newer pieces and quilt them together to make incredibly fashionable clothes, hats, bags, shirts, slippers, and more! We were thrilled to see the creative gifts and abilities of these rural villagers!

Through the growth of this project, Malee has been able to employ over 38 people in her village. Over the past 8 years this group has grown in their abilities and business practices.  With the creative guidance of Malee and her leadership, we believe this group will come to see great success. They are truly gifted by God and we pray He will grow the people of Malee Handicrafts and expand their eyes and heart to what He has to offer them.

Malee's patch color cotton hippy bag was purchased wholesale by World Vision USA for their Christmas catalog and sold so many bags, they couldn't make them fast enough! Malee's items have also been sold to the world famous San Diego Zoo! Her creativity and designs are so amazing and we can't seem to keep some of her products in stock because they sell so quickly! The good news is, we are able to order more from her on a consistent basis so she and more lives can be changed!

ZOE Means "LIFE," the Life of God
Over 1.4 billion people have never heard the Gospel. ZOE International Ministries is a Christian organization with the mission to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ and to make disciples of the un-reached people of the world and to demonstrate God's compassion through rescuing and caring for orphans and children from human trafficking.
The Vision of ZOE International Ministries is to fulfill God's dream that every person on earth will know Him and possess eternal Life through Jesus Christ; and that in lands where Christ is unknown; His love will be experienced, His Kingdom will reign, His Church will be built, His disciples will multiply, and He will be glorified for who He is.
